On January 20th, 2017, Malta will for the third time join international business capitals Singapore, Hong Kong, Athens, New York, Mexico City, and Sydney in hosting The Economist’s World In… Gala Dinner Series.
For 30 years, The Economist has published The World in..., featuring global trends and predictions on the year ahead. The World in 2017 Gala Dinner: Malta is a must-attend event that will bring the publication to life, focusing on the most important trends affecting senior business decision-makers across industries in Malta in the coming year.
The World In… black-tie gala dinner series brings together thought leaders and prominent figures for a unique evening of intelligent entertainment, earning a reputation as a favourite social event on corporate calendars internationally.
Guests of The Economist’s third annual Malta Gala Dinner at the Hilton Malta will enjoy an elegant seated dinner, signature cocktails designed by a Diageo specialist, thought-provoking entertainment from exceptional speakers, the Mediterranean premiere of The Economist’s 2017 Global Predictions video, and the opportunity for audience participation through a lively predictions-based table quiz.
For the first time in Malta, the host for the evening is Daniel Franklin, Executive Editor of The Economist, and Editor of The World in… series. Daniel will be joined by the Hon. Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Muscat, who will provide his insights on Malta’s EU Council Presidency and the country's place in the world in 2017.

The keynote address for this year’s forward-looking event will be delivered by internationally renowned UEFA/FIFA referee Pierluigi Collina. Collina, one of the world’s most famous and most respected sports officials, will talk about shaping the future of sporting organisations, while also addressing other topics of interest in regards to sport and the transformation of society and business.
